What does it take to start a haunted attraction (haunted house)? What experience is needed? What business plan needs to be built in order to go professional? Does one need investors, partners, and creative talent? How does one start the journey? These are several questions I’ve asked myself. When thinking in the simplest terms, how can I take my home haunt to a professional level? I have some experience in most areas relating to a business and a haunt, but is it enough?

My blog will take us through my journey, live as it happens or maybe stalls, but will provide an interesting perspective to the challenges and how they are addressed and overcome (or not).

I believe it is every home haunter’s dream to go professional. I believe those that don’t know any better succeed. Those that don’t realize how risky the endeavor is actually make a better run at it than those that may be too conservative. I have the belief that those that are willing to live out of their car, possibly losing everything, have the best chance for success. It is do or die, so to speak. Those of us who plan carefully and act cautiously and slowly miss out on opportunities that could propel us forward. Mitigating risk, especially when your family’s wellbeing is at stake, is the responsible thing, but will it provide the means to an end, a professional haunt that can achieve longevity and prosperity?

The journey will probably be more of the later, a cautious, patient progression that may end up in a fury of impulsiveness. Start the journey with me as we learn together the process and methods that will allow us all to take the next step.
